Paintball & Pirates

It’s been pretty crazy up in Bali the last couple weeks, last week was a big religious holiday up here with the kids having three days off school in the middle of the week but the place goes pretty mad and there are parties in the street and all kind of strange stuff goes on.

All the locals have three days of ceremonies and make these things made out of bamboo and stick them out side there houses which turn all the streets into really cool run ways.

Also I had both my kids Max and Lucca having Birthdays. Always fun having the kids’ parties …

Max and his friend went paint balling and me being a big kid that I am had to go along and get amongst the action but all the little buggers ganged up on me and I was the only one that came out with welts. I did get one good shot on Max right between the eyes!!!

Lucca had a big party at our Villa with all her friends …

We hired these kids’ party people that make it so easy, with them taking care of all the activities like face painting, tee shirt paint, games with a pirate, a pi–ata, so she had a great day.

We also did a bit of the Terry Tourist thing and went and visited this really cool temple that you can get to on low tide and as you can see from the picture we didn’t time it too well.

The rain has stopped up here for the last week or so and the waves have been really fun, I have had some really fun sessions at Canggu and a couple sick of Stand up sessions as well.

Since I had a WA sunset in my last blog from my place there I thought I would give you a look at the sunset from my place up here in Bali.

Looking forward to going to the Quik Pro on the Goldie to see how the first leg of the tour kicks off. Pretty exciting with the new kids and Mick defending his title. Can’t wait.

The whole month of January have just been kicking it in Florida and waiting for a swell in the Caribbean to pop up so I can go chase it.

It has been good lately to feel like a surfer again and to just surf all day long
and come home so hungry and tired you can’t even move. I love that feeling when that happens and have had some of that lately.

The family is doing well and I have been feeling good; can’t wait to get over to the Goldy and surf all day long there also.

Have been watching the Australian Open and Football so have had my sports fix. I really like watching people compete.

Peace,

Damo.

Hey Guys,

I’ve had a great break over Chrissy. Been training heaps to get back from my injury which has been going along good. I had a trip for my birthday early January. Had some fun with my chick and a few mates in the Hunter Valley (West of Newcastle) wine region. Here are some photos of how it all went …

Start off with a classy-type group portrait next to the vats.

PANCHO’S BLOG

A recent day here in da islands.

A recent day here in da islands.

I hope you are all getting sick waves!

I have been hanging here in Hawaii and really enjoying some quality water time. I have bounced around on the last few swells taking advantage of the outer island solitude.

We have also had some really great surf here on the North Shore. The Backdoor Shootout ran last week in some of the best Pipe/Backdoor I have seen in years. The level of surfing was amazing. The format really pushed everyone in the event to swing for the fences because advancing is not the objective. It’s all about trying to get a 10. It was a lot of fun to surf in for the mere fact that there were only three other guys in the water and the surf was pumping.

We are finally in full winter swing and the swells have been stacking up. The variety here on the North Shore is pretty amazing and I have been really enjoying some soul surfing. Not worrying about being the wave of the day guy at Pipe. Just getting back to the joy of riding waves with just a couple of other people out. I feel really recharged and excited about surfing again.

It’s been really great to have this time off to get back to what it is all about. Fun!!! Hope you are having fun!

Cheers,

Pancho

I have arrived back in Bali and have been here for two days and really getting to know why they call it the rainy season this time of year. Some might say it’s been raining cats and dogs or even tarantulas but I would just say it’s been pissing down. Not much fun at all.

There haven’t been any real waves to talk of and the water is brown from all the water running out the river mouths. Let me take you back to the last week or so I was in WA …

The JP 5000 leader board.

Well I guess it all started with the JP 5000. Check out the leader board (above) and what Clouse had to eat with most nights (below).

… Hahaha.

… Hahaha.

I had a big party at my place for New Year’s and this picture is just when the sun was going down but you get the drift of what it was going to turn into!!! About 50 more people and a shitload more drinking!!!

Still semi-civilized, before festivities kicked on and the wheels fell off.

Anyway, after the New Year we had a great little summer run, lots of sitting around in the pool drinking beers and having BBQs, it was the best!

Best of all, most afternoons we were blessed with a sunset like this one below.

Christmas with the mates at Bronte.

Christmas with the mates at Bronte.

Hello all u freaks in web world, hope u all had a great festive season and Santa was kind to u all! Gee it’s been great to be home although I haven’t enjoyed the swell like all the boys up the coast. Speaking to Luke Munro, he said it was some of the best waves he has ever seen — even had Luke Stedman not letting go of the rope on his first wave as he saw it triple sucking up!!! Hahahahahaha.

Sure, they had some strange boardies and a little less rocker on their boards, but since the olden days, surfing and beer have been always been ruling the roost during Christmas at Bronte.

Spent Chrissy at home, ending with plenty of drinks on top of Bronte clock where all the boys end up for a beer! Showed some overseas friends the Syd fireworks for New Year’s and enjoyed a lot of good food and cold beers, so the rig is looking not the best! Time to get into shape now for the new season.

Sydney New Year’s.

Heading to South Africa tomorrow for a surf trip with my sponsor Oakley which should be good!! Always fun to check out a new area, hope we get some waves. I will be hooking up with the South African BRUs; Davey Weare, Royden and Greg Emo so that will be wicked!!

Keep safe and I’ll fill u in with the trip when I’m back!!

Hope you’re getting waves!

you know how Puerto Rico goes and sure there will be heaps of video pieces up
on the site about the trip very soon.

Not a whole lot to speak of here on the North Shore. The weather and surf has been the worst since the winter of ’94/’95. It has rained for a month straight and the trades have been a blistery 15-25mph everyday. I am hopeful that ’08 brings a change in the jetstream and the weather pattern. On the positive side there have been waves to surf almost everyday. It’s been really nice just being at home and spending quality time with the family. I’ve been working around the house a lot and catching up on a lot of sports through the holidays.

Watching college football bowl games galore. I was so disappointed for the UH (University of Hawaii) players. They played their hearts out this season but the offensive line forgot to show up and protect Colt Brennan in the Sugar Bowl. It was heartbreaking to see him get sacked eight times. I wish him well in the NFL!

Go Blazers! 13 wins in a row through the month of December. It’s playoff time in the NFL. I love this time of year.

Ahhhh shoot, I gotta run, my kid just dropped his guts. Time to change his diaper. Its all about multi-tasking! Hope wherever you are, you are enjoying all the great things in life.

Cheers,

Pancho

EAGLES & DHU FISH

Filed under: Jake Paterson — wpssuperblog @ 3:02 pm

Well what a crazy season it turned out to be in Hawaii this year!!!!

Stoked for the Ozzie boys; Mick for winning the title, Bede for
winning Pipe and the Triple Crown, and Taj for finishing 2nd in the
title race.

The sun set on a great ‘07 season for the Ozzie boys.

The sun set on a great ’07 season for the Ozzie boys.

It all just makes it way more exciting next year when you throw Dane
and Jordy in the mix.

I have been back in WA for about a week now and I have been having a
blast. I had my first ever eagle in golf the day I got back and have
been fishing up a storm with some great results as you can see.

WA Dhu fish is what we all fish for around these parts and I have caught 6 since I’ve been home so I’m one happy fish-o!!!

No real waves to talk about since I have been home, not that I surf
much this time of year anyway, it’s all about good times with BBQs
every afternoon.

I have good friends in Luke Hitchings and Jarrad Howse coming over for
New Years and the first JP 5000 Golf tournament that I have organized.
It’s just a bit of fun between the 3 of us but a lot of pride at stake.

I’m not heading back to Bali until the 11th of January so I’m trying
to make the most of being back in WA so stay turned for my next report
on all the good times …

Snake
